The school uniform at Mark Cross is to be worn by all pupils. It is an expectation that all pupils wear the correct uniform smartly. We ask that parents support us in this aim by checking your child’s presentation before they arrive to school each morning.
Whilst we will be encouraging parents to purchase uniform from our new provider, MyClothing, it is not expected that children follow the new expectations until September 2027. Until this time it is acceptable for children to wear items from our current provider, Monkhouse, or from second hand stocks.
Acceptable Uniform Items for September 2026 – July 2027
Reception, Year 1 & 2
Summer Uniform: Terms 5 and 6
As winter uniform + option to wear:
- Mark Cross logo blue polo shirt
- Blue Gingham dress
- Grey Shorts / grey knee length skirt or skort
Winter Uniform: Terms 1–4
- Mark Cross logo sweatshirt / cardigan
- Grey trousers, skirt, skort or pinafore dress
- Mark Cross logo blue polo shirt
- White/Grey socks or grey tights for girls, grey socks for boys
- Black shoes – Velcro or buckles (no slip-ons or laces)
PE Kit
- White T-shirt (T-shirts with a logo are optional)
- Navy shorts, skorts or tracksuit bottoms – no logos, stripes or patterns
- Black plimsolls or white trainers only. No other colours are permitted. White socks
Bags & Accessories
- Book bags available via MyClothing.
- All children will need:
- a named water bottle
- a named warm/waterproof coat
- a book bag
- No rucksacks needed for KS1
The new uniform will not be fully implemented until September 2027, which is why we have introduced a one-year transition period. During this time, both the current and new uniform items can be worn, allowing families to make the change gradually and at a pace that works for them.

- Crew necked sweatshirt / cardigan (burgundy)
Compulsory non-branded items:
- Light blue summer dress
- Plain coloured sun hat
- White socks or white tights
- Flat, closed toe, black shoes. Boots are not permitted.
Winter Uniform: Terms 1–4
Compulsory items branded with the school logo:
- Polo shirt (sky blue)

- Trousers, Pinafore dress or skirt (navy blue)
- Socks or tights (navy blue)
- Flat, closed toe, black shoes. Boots are not permitted.

- PE T-shirt (navy blue)
Compulsory non-branded items:
- (Navy blue) shorts / skorts / jogging bottoms
- White trainers with Velcro fasteners. (no bright colours, no lights)
Optional:
- Crew neck sweatshirt (burgundy) – same item as listed under winter / summer uniform

We do keep a stock of some second-hand uniform at our school. If you would like to enquire about items currently available, please contact the School Office. If you are having difficulties providing the correct uniform, please contact our Head of School, Mrs Hillman.
Jewellery (other than a small pair of stud earrings) and nail varnish is not allowed. Children must be able to remove their own earrings for PE. Long hair must be tied back. Hairbands, alice bands and hairclips should be maroon, grey or black. Gingham hair bands/clips that match summer dresses are also permitted. Fringes must not cover the children’s eyes. Gel (or other hair products) are allowed to help keep hair in place.
