At Mayfield CE Primary School, we are guided by our Christian values of respect, responsibility, compassion and perseverance.
Children are at the centre of everything we do. Working closely in partnership with parents, carers and the wider community, we ensure that children respect themselves, others and the world in which they live.
Our school provides an inspiring, creative and nurturing environment where everybody matters. Through excellent teaching and care, we enable our children to flourish, preparing them for their future lives.
Guided by our Christian ethos, we give our children wings to soar.
Guiding Values
Christian Ethos
Mayfield CE Primary School has a strong, caring Christian ethos and we are proud of the welcome that we give to all of our families and visitors to the school. We nurture children’s moral and spiritual development, promote the development of positive relationships and foster respect and co-operation. This is reflected in the following comments made in our most recent OFSTED (September 2019) and SIAMS (June 2017) reports:
OFSTED – March 2025
- Mayfield CE Primary is a welcoming and inclusive school underpinned by its core values and ethos.
- Pupils behave especially well – they are polite and courteous and treat one another with respect.
- The school has a carefully considered curriculum to reflect mixed-age classes.
- Reading is prioritised and phonics is delivered effectively.
- Pupils engage in lessons readily and as a result, most pupils achieve well.
- The school’s development of pupils’ wider character is exceptional.
- Pupils have a mature understanding of the roles the school’s values play in creating not just a kind community, but also for independence in their future lives.
SIAMS – February 2025
- The vision accurately mirrors the religious foundation and community context of the school. It is strongly promoted in all aspects of school life.
- The school’s values are clearly reflected in everyday life through its warm, nurturing ethos and the school community’s positive relationships.
- The vision and values solidly underpin the school’s child-centred curriculum and practices. This impacts positively on the lives, learning and wellbeing of the school community.
- Rich, mutually beneficial partnerships with the church, community and Federation positively enables the school to live out the vision.
- Pupils flourish in Religious Education (RE). Effective curriculum provision, using well-chosen resources, enables pupils to have a secure knowledge and understanding of the subject.
Christian Values
Our Christian ethos is supported by our four core behaviours: respect, responsibility, compassion and perseverance as well as ‘Values for Life’ which sit alongside British Values to support the development of well-rounded children prepared of be responsible citizens and make a positive contribution to life in modern Britain. We consider a different Christian Value each term; children focus on the Value through homework, classroom display and collective worship and are given recognition for recognising or demonstrating the value in everyday life.
